Dengue fever: 319 hospitalised in a single day

Between 8:00 AM and 2:00 PM today, at least 319 dengue fever patients were admitted to hospital.

The Directorate General of Health Services, (DGHS) says that 75 of the 319 dengue infections are outside Dhaka.

Out of the total 13,875 cases, 3519 new cases were reported in this month. 1407 of the infected are from Dhaka.

According to the DGHS, at least 7698 patients were diagnosed in August. 2286 patients were seen in July and 272 in June. 43 people were infected in May.

54 people died from dengue in the country this year. All of them died between July and August.

Twelve people were killed in July, while 34 perished in August and eight in September.

The DGHS data indicates that although most of those who were admitted have been released, 1260 patients are still being treated at Dhaka hospitals and 181 outside the capital.
